What do I need to get into a college program?
Postsecondary Programs
The minimum requirement for admission to a postsecondary program is an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (30 credits) with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/College (M), or Open (O) stream or its equivalent or mature student status. Many programs also have specific admission requirements that must be met for an applicant to be considered for admission.
Please Note:
For the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program, the admission requirement is an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or its equivalent or mature student status, including grade 12 English (U), grade 12 biology (U), grade 12 chemistry (U), and any 3 additional grade 12 courses (U or M). A minimum overall average of 70% (or the equivalent) in all prerequisite courses is required.
For the Carpenter General, Chef Training, and Welder Fitter programs, the minimum requirement is grade 10 (applied or academic stream) or its equivalent or mature student status. Applicants must still meet the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities policies regarding college eligibility - students must either hold an OSSSD or have mature student status (19 years of age or older before the beginning of classes).
Graduates of Ontario Secondary Schools who have obtained their diploma (OSSD) or certificate (OSSC) with English or math through the workplace stream may be considered for admission on an individual basis.
Cambrian graduates may continue their studies at university and receive credit for their college education.
