The Cambrian Foundation Awards Program is home to over 325 scholarships, bursaries and awards that provide over $350,000 annually in financial assistance to Cambrian College students. The awards program is made up of a combination of annual awards and endowed awards of varying values.

Annual awards are funded on a yearly basis by the donor. Confirmation of participation in the awards program happens in the summer of each year with payment required prior to award selection in January. No annual awards will be offered without funding in place.

Endowed awards are established when the gift is invested in its entirety and the award value is supported by the interest alone. At present, the Cambrian Foundation allocates four per cent of the interest earned on each endowment to student awards (please see our Endowment disbursement policy (PDF) for more information). This number may change in time and remains at the discretion of the Cambrian Foundation.

For example, an endowed gift of $25,000 would result in an annual scholarship of up to $1,000, while the principal remains to benefit students in perpetuity.

The Cambrian Foundation is pleased to discuss endowment opportunities of $10,000 and up for the establishment of new awards.

In addition, the Province of Ontario launched a new matching program in November 2005 called the Ontario Trust for Student Support. (OTSS). This program will match dollar-for-dollar, every contribution to the Cambrian Foundation in support of a new or existing award endowment. There also exists the possibility of enhanced three-to-one matching money should the Cambrian Foundation reach milestone giving levels established by the Province.
