The Sudbury Star Archive is an online database accessible over the Internet that provides subject access to full text articles from the Sudbury Star from 1999 to the present.
On-Campus Access: If you are searching the archive from a computer at Cambrian College, click on the following link or type the URL for the database in the appropriate box on your Internet browser: http://save6.sunmedia.ca/CambrianCollege
Basic Searching:
- Enter your search terms in the box provided on the screen
- Select the type of search you would like to perform – the default search is Advanced Syntax*, but you may choose to find your keywords in the following context:
- All of the words
- At least one of the words
- Adjacent words
- The exact phrase or name
- The default date range for searching is All Dates; you can change this by selecting another date range from the drop down menu
- Click on the Search button
* For help with searching, click on the Help button in the lower right corner of the screen
To Display Records:
- The default display format is Headline List which will display a list of headlines along with the date, section, page number, and length of the article
- You can change the display to Bibliographic which will display the headlines, the citation, and a short summary of the article
- You may also change the display from Newest to Oldest (descending date order) to Oldest to Newest (ascending date order) or to Score (which displays the most relevant articles first)
Top Menu Bar:
- To perform a different search, click on New on the top menu bar
- To edit your search terms, click on Revise on the top menu bar
To Print Articles:
- Click on the Title of the article in the Results List to retrieve the full text article on the screen
- Click on the Print icon in the top menu bar
- Select the printer you would like to use and click on the Print button
