Many of the analytical reports and data tables published by Statistics Canada (including census data) are available free of charge to the general public on the Statistics Canada web site. E-STAT: Statistics about Canada for Educational Communities
This web site by Statistics Canada provides a gateway to electronic documents for educational communities. The E-STAT web site allows students and teachers to access Statistics Canada publications on social trends, health, the environment, and criminal justice, among many other topics.

Historical Statistics of Canada, 2nd ed., 1983
If you are looking for historical statistics about Canada, the second edition of the
Historical Statistics of Canada is currently available online. It includes statistics on population, family, health, labour, the economy, finance, industry, government, and the justice system from the start of Confederation in 1867 to the mid-1970s.

Census of Canada:

The Statistics Canada Census web site includes online reports on population and dwelling counts for Canada and its provinces and territories as well as Canadian cities and districts within cities. It also provides information on demographic, social and economic characteristics of the country. Reports from both the 2006 Census and the 2001 Census are currently available.

Census Community Profiles:

If you are looking for profiles of communities within Canada, you can search for a community name by going to the Community Profiles for the 2006 Census. These profiles include demographics and statistics on marital and common-law status, household and family characteristics, mother tongue, citizenship and immigrant status, educational attainment, occupation and labour force activity, income and place of work status, as well as demographics for visible minorities and Aboriginal peoples.
