Awards at Convocation

The President's Medals
The President's Medals, a gold and a silver, are awarded annually to graduating students from any postsecondary program at Cambrian College. In awarding these medals, the selection committee considers those students nominated for the awards on their academic achievement, their technical ability, their significant contribution to college life through social and athletic interests, and their contribution to their community.

The gold and silver medals are accompanied respectively by a $2,000 and $1,500 scholarship. These prestigious awards are granted at Convocation.

Governor General's College Academic Medal
Each year, the Governor General of Canada provides one medal to each college in Ontario. This prestigious medal is awarded to the Cambrian College graduate of a postsecondary diploma or degree program who has achieved the highest overall academic average.

Have a Son or Daughter Graduating?

Students do not need to apply to graduate. They should, however, meet with their program coordinator to review the status of their academic requirements.

The College will reserve a graduation gown for your son or daughter, which may be picked up in the Office of the Registrar one week prior to the ceremonies.

The day of Convocation, graduates must be at the marshalling area (John T. Koski Conference Centre - Room 4420) one hour prior to the start of their ceremony with their gown. All purses and personal belongings should be left with family or friends during the ceremony.

If your son or daughter is unable to attend Convocation, his/her certificate or diploma will be sent to them in June.

Attending Convocation

Seating for guests is in the gymnasium, where the ceremony will take place. The doors will open one hour prior to the start of the ceremonies. We ask that you limit the number of guests to four allowing all graduates to have family and friends attend their special day. Guests with special needs requiring assistance are asked to contact the Office of the Registrar at (705) 566-8101, ext. 3003.

There will be an area at the front of the stage for guests of graduates to take photos. A professional photographer will be available on Convocation day should you wish to have formal photos taken.

You can also congratulate your son or daughter with a Cambrian College ring. A package outlining details of the services provided by the Alumni Association will be sent to graduates in their convocation invitation package.

Free parking is available the day of Convocation.
