Registration consists of either:
- the payment of full fees and the completion and submission of a student registration form, or
- for students unable to pay the full fees by the stated deadline in the academic schedule, completion of a Tuition Payment Agreement form (whereby they may pay their fees on a more affordable schedule) and the completion and submission of a student registration form.
Students who have not completed the registration process may not attend classes or obtain grades.
Instructions for registration will be mailed prior to the start of the semester for all eligible applicants and returning upper-year students. Students who delay payment of their fees beyond the published dates will be required to pay a $50 per semester deferment fee.
Students who have outstanding obligations to the College, have not met the conditions of disciplinary action or past academic performance, or who have not completed the stated prerequisites for admission may not be permitted to register. In such an event, the student should contact the Office of the Registrar for clarification.
Full-Time Day Student
Students who register for 70% of the regular scheduled hours or 66 2/3% of the course load in a particular program are deemed full-time and pay full fees accordingly. Once a student reduces his/her course load, tuition costs are determined on a credit basis in accordance with the guidelines stipulated by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The eligibility and nature of assistance offered through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is determined by the course load.
Part-Time Day Student
Students who wish to study on a part-time basis during the day must consult the program Dean for approval and complete the registration process. A part-time student is one who is registered in less than 70% of the regular scheduled hours or 66 2/3% of the course load in a particular program. Once the approved course registration has been submitted to the Office of the Registrar and entered into the student record, the fee will be determined and payment must be made in the Office of the Registrar.
Part-Time Evening
Registration for part-time evening study may require admission to a program. Students should consult the Continuing Education calendar for detailed information. Students pay fees on a course-by-course basis and full payment of fees is required at the time of registration. Many courses are also offered through distance education and independent learning as well as on the Internet.
Full-time day students may register in evening courses on a tuition fee waiver with the approval of their program Dean/Director if the course they required is not available to them during the day schedule. Any course taken in addition to a regular course load will be assessed an overload fee based on the same rate as part-time fees. Full-time students adding an evening course to their full-time program must notify the Office of the Registrar.
Course Load
Students are required to pay all costs incurred by taking additional courses in a given semester. The assessed tuition fee cannot be offset by a reduced course load in a previous semester.
Refunds
It is the student’s responsibility to become acquainted with the policies respecting a refund of fees. These are in keeping with regulations set out by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and are based on the date of official withdrawal from studies. Please refer to the section on fees and academic policies for further information.
Fees
Guidelines for tuition fees are set by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, who also regulate the policy for refunds and the incidental fees that may be charged by the College. The fees listed in this publication are those in effect for the 2008-09 academic year and are subject to change. A complete fee schedule is available from the Office of the Registrar and is sent to all students prior to the confirmation of acceptance deadline.
