The City of Greater Sudbury’s Best Start Network recently named Cambrian College’s Early Childhood Education – Alternate Delivery (ECAD) diploma program as one of the city’s top nine “Best Start” initiatives for 2009. The College’s ECAD program was recognized for its innovative and flexible approach to learning that allows individuals working in the child care field to earn their Early Childhood Education diploma while continuing their employment.
As of 2007, all early childhood educators must be registered members of the College of Early Childhood Educators, the profession’s governing body. Cambrian’s ECAD program provides graduates with the necessary qualifications to obtain membership and eases the learning process by giving credit for previous work experience and by offering courses on campus, online, and through facilitated sessions.
Lois Mahon, Chair of the City of Greater Sudbury’s Best Start Network, complimented Cambrian College for its supportive student environment.
Sudbury’s Best Start initiative is part of a larger provincial government plan to provide parents and children with greater access to services that will better prepare children for success when they begin school. |
