The Association of Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario (ACAATO), the umbrella organization of Ontario’s 24 colleges of applied arts and technology, and the College Compensation and Appointments Council, organizers of the Premier’s Awards that honour Ontario college graduates, held the ACAATO Annual Conference and Premier’s Award Ceremony in Sudbury on February 19 and 20, 2006.
It was the first time the ACAATO Conference and the Premier’s Awards were held in Northern Ontario and the first time the Conference was hosted by two colleges — Cambrian College and Collège Boréal.
Cambrian Student Receives ACAATO Award
The ACAATO Awards recognize individuals, organizations, and especially volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the college system in Ontario in areas of Leadership, Innovation, and Partnership. Eight ACAATO Awards were presented at the Awards Luncheon on February 20, including the Student Innovation Award that was presented to Cheri Corbiere from Cambrian College.
Premier’s Awards
The Premier’s Awards, which were held on February 20 at Cambrian College, honoured graduates of Ontario's Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology for the important social and economic contribution they make to Ontario. Also being honoured that evening were those who were nominated for this prestigious award, including Cambrian College graduates Rose-Marie Doyon Dolinar, Grachella G. Garcia, Craig Gilbert, Bruce W. Hutton, John Kieley, and Silvia Rios Hernandez, and Collège Boréal graduates Claudia Nolin and Natalie Plante.
