Annual Technological Skills Competition Held at Cambrian College

Feature
February 2007

On February 27, 2007, Cambrian College was the venue for the Third Annual Rainbow District School Board Technological Skills Competition, an event that enabled over 130 secondary school students from Greater Sudbury to compete in various technological events and to find out about careers in the field. Students competed in 11 categories, including auto service technology, carpentry, video editing, and Rube Goldberg. The categories were organized by Cambrian faculty, who were on hand to lend their skills and expertise to students participating in the event.

A new and popular addition to the Skills competition was the Rube Goldberg event, which involved students building the most elaborate contraptions possible using a variety of mechanisms at their disposal; the final goal being the popping of a balloon.

The winners will go on to the provincial Technological Skills Competition, which will be held in Waterloo in May.
