November 2006

Cheri Corbiere, President of the Cambrian Native Students’ Association (CNSA) and a student in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, was honoured with a 40 Under Forty Award by Northern Ontario Business in November.

The 40 Under Forty program celebrates young men and women who are emerging leaders in the Sudbury and Manitoulin regions. Cheri was recognized for her work as President of CNSA, including her involvement in establishing a First Nation Student Food Bank, her recruitment efforts, and her work in organizing and promoting Cambrian’s first National Native Alcohol Awareness Week. The award also recognized Cheri’s work on numerous boards and advisory committees, including the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities’ advisory committee on Aboriginal postsecondary education.

In February, Cheri was the recipient of the Association of Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario (ACAATO) Student Innovation Award.
