Cambrian’s third-year Graphic Design students captured first, second and third place in a logo competition sponsored by the Sudbury Police Association. Students in all three years of the College’s Graphic Design program submitted over 50 concepts, which were judged by a Police Association committee who then selected the winning entries based on design, visual appeal, and their ability to effectively communicate the values of the Police Association.
Amy Richard received first place honours and a $1,500 award, Chad Odnokon received second place honours and a $1,000 award, and Tara Hawkes received third place honours and a $500 award.
The winning logo will be used on stationery and apparel and will form the basis for a fresh new identity for the Sudbury Police Association.
"The Police Association was pleased to be able to give Sudbury’s up-and-coming graphic designers the opportunity to showcase their talents," said Constable Dann Kingsley of the Sudbury Police Association. "All design entries had great potential, but the winning design was a simple, yet classic logo that symbolizes the unity of the Association and the support that police officers provide each other in their day-to-day work."
Ron Beltrame, Coordinator of the College’s Graphic Design program noted that the logo competition served to further strengthen the relationship between key community groups and the College. "We would like to sincerely thank the members of the Sudbury Police Association for their support and for their generous contribution to the development of the next generation of professional graphic designers," said Beltrame.
