Cambrian's Integrative Assistive Experts Make Front Page News

Feature
July 2008

Marlene McIntosh and Diane Berzins of Cambrian College's Glenn Crombie Centre for disability services have made front page news, not once but twice, on the foremost computer and assistive technology publication, "Closing the Gap" in both Canada and the United States.

The two-part series, co-authored by McIntosh and Berzins, is entitled, "Power to the learner!" and focuses on integrating assistive technology with learning strategies. McIntosh, a learning strategist and assistive technologist, and Berzins, a professor, based their articles on research from their experiences teaching adult students with learning disabilities at Cambrian College.

The first article was published in the April/May issue, and the second part appeared in the June/July publication. The Glenn Crombie Centre offers one-of-a kind specialized programs for students with specific disabilities.
