Cambrian College Celebrates International Day

Release
February 2008

Cambrian College is celebrating International Day as part of International Development Week in Canada on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the College’s Barrydowne campus. This day is aimed at acknowledging the involvements and accomplishments of the Cambrian and Sudbury communities in international development.

As part of International Day, Cambrian’s international students will perform a play about environmental issues written by one of the students, starting at 12 noon in the Amphitheatre, room 2226. The College community and the public will also have the opportunity to visit booths hosted by the Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association, Village International, Indian Canada Association, SWAPS, and the Sudbury and District Health Unit. Cambrian’s Employment Services, Students’ Administrative Council, day care, and Respect campaign will also host booths.

“Globalization and technology have made the world a smaller place, so developing global awareness is important because it serves to increase our understanding of the role we play in international development,” said Ibrahim Alladin, Director, Cambrian International. “Cambrian’s International Day provides an opportunity to educate the Cambrian and Sudbury communities on how they can become global citizens who are actively involved in international development.”
