The Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association honoured Cambrian College President Sylvia Barnard at its annual gala dinner, which was held at Cambrian's Student Centre on November 3, 2007. Sudbury MPP and Minster of Safety and Correctional Services Rick Bartolucci presented Barnard with an award recognizing her contribution to international education.

As Cambrian's President, Barnard has traveled to countries around the world to promote technical and economic development. Cambrian College has educational connections with various countries, including India, Tanzania, Chile, and Egypt. Staff and students at the College have the opportunity to travel to these countries and obtain a better perspective about Cambrian's international work.
