Close to 100 female students in grades 9 and 10 visited Cambrian College for the fifth annual Women of the Future conference, an event designed to provide them with the opportunity to learn about careers in traditional and non-traditional fields.

The day-long event featured guest speaker Monique Howat, who led a session on building confidence and self-esteem. During the conference, each student had the opportunity to attend two morning workshops including Journalism/Broadcast - New Media, where each girl had the opportunity to be a news anchor, work the Telepromter, or work the camera and Dental Assisting/Dental Hygiene, where the girls toured the dental clinic, learned about the program and careers in the dental health field, and made dental moulds. The students also attended an afternoon session, Rotating Careers, which gave them the opportunity to ask questions of the professional women in attendance with respect to a variety of careers.
