Matt Rocca, a recent honors graduate of Cambrian College's Graphic Design program, edged out his northern peers to claim the 50 Carleton & Associates Award of Excellence for Northern Ontario and a $1,000 bursary. Rocca submitted three print and digital graphic design works to the RGD Student Awards Exhibit, held from June 30 to July 4, at the Metro Hall Rotunda in Toronto.
The RGD Student Award Competition is open to all students in their final year of study at a university or college level graphic design program. Rocca competed against students from 17 other graphic design diploma and degree programs in Ontario. Rocca also received honorable mention in the open categories the Q30 Award for Logo Design and the Adobe Award for Print Design. Matt will also attend an awards ceremony in Toronto later this month and will be featured in the publication, Applied Arts Magazine.
In just the past five years, Cambrian students have won 18 RGD Awards and Honorable Mentions - a testament to the College establishing itself as a regional center of excellence in graphic design education.
