Twenty-four First Nations students from across the north, along with their chaperons, participated in a First Nations Outreach event from May 29 - 31. During their visit, the grade nine and ten students attended workshops taught by faculty from Cambrian’s Business, Computer and Engineering Technology, Health Sciences and Emergency Services, Hospitality and Tourism, and Skills/Trades programs. They stayed in residence at Cambrian and participated in other cultural, educational, and social activities designed to introduce them to Sudbury and to Cambrian College.
The visit was made possible by the School/College/Work Initiative, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and University. The goal of the event was to create excitement about the many postsecondary opportunities available after high school.
