Cambrian Hosts First Nations and First Generation Camps

Feature
June 2007

From May 28 to 3, 2007, Cambrian College hosted 18 students and chaperones from grades 9, 10, and 11 for Explore!Camp and from June 4 to 7, 2007, the College hosted 44 Aboriginal students and chaperones for First Nations College Experience 2007.

These camps gave students the opportunity to find out about Cambrian and College life by participating in a variety of activities, workshops, social events, and cultural activities. During their four days on campus, the secondary school students stayed in Cambrian residence. They were exposed to a variety of career opportunities, to the postsecondary pathways to these careers, and to the support services offered on campus.

First Nations College Experience 2007 was sponsored by the School/College Work Initiative, First Generation Funding, and Mining Matters. Explore!Camp was sponsored by First Generation funding through the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
