On June 16, Cambrian College, Laurentian University, and Thorneloe University received a $78,000 donation from the former Church of the Resurrection parish that will enable them to establish bursaries that will be awarded annually to students at their respective institutions. The bursaries will be granted to deserving students from the Sudbury area based upon demonstrable financial need and academic achievement.

The donation will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, by the Ontario Trust for Student Support. As a result, through this provincial government incentive program - which encourages the establishment of permanent endowments for student aid - the overall contribution to student success was $156,000.
