Jody Carruthers, a member of Cambrian's Golden Shield women's badminton team, captured a bronze medal at the Canadian College Athletic Association (CCAA) badminton championship, which was held on March 6 to 10, in British Columbia.

To reach the nationals, Carruthers won a gold medal at the regional competition, which was held at Cambrian College, and at the provincial badminton competition, which was held in Scarborough.

"I am extremely proud of Jody," said Cambrian badminton coach, Tim Yu. "She proved to everyone why she deserved to be at the National Championships. She played with heart and determination and it was a joy to watch her compete."
