Cambrian participates in “Canstruction” Competition

Feature
October 2006

On October 28, students in Cambrian’s Civil Engineering Technology program were at Science North to build structures out of canned goods as part of Sudbury’s first Canstruction Competition in support of the Sudbury Food Bank and Meals on Wheels.

The local design/build competition is part of an international competition that showcases the talents of design and construction industry professionals and students. Teams are given just 12 hours to defy expectations, logic and gravity to build fantastic sculptures from thousands of cans of food.

The purpose of the Canstruction event is to raise public awareness, to fill the shelves of local food banks, and to prove that “one can” change the world.

Over the next few weeks, you can cast your ballot for your favourite canned structure by visiting http://www.channel10news.ca/canart/  You can also see the sculptures first hand in the IMAX lobby of Science North, free of charge.

The Canstruction winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony at Science North on November 22.
