Cambrian's 40th annual Convocation ceremonies were held on Thursday, May 29 and Friday, May 30. More than 2,100 Cambrian students graduated during this year's four Convocation ceremonies.
Awards and Medals
Cambrian's Convocation ceremonies featured the presentation of the following awards and medals:
On Thursday, May 29, Cheri Corbiere, a graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, was presented with the President's Gold Medal; Micheline Lavallée, a Psychology professor in Cambrian College's School of Justice and Community Services, was the recipient of this year's President's Award for Excellence - Faculty category; Gayle Hawes, a graduate of the Social Service Worker program, received the Cambrian College Alumni Award; and Cheri Corbiere, President of the Cambrian Native Students' Association, Curtis Bell, President of the Cambrian Athletic Association, and Jennifer Howarth, President of the Students' Administrative Council received Certificates of Recognition.
On Friday, May 30, Roy Leclair, a graduate of the Mechanical Engineering Technician - Industrial Maintenance program, received the Governor General's Academic Medal; Evelyn Abbott, a graduate of the Business Administration - Accounting program, was awarded the President's Silver Medal; and John Rodriguez, Mayor of the City of Greater Sudbury, received the Dr. Fred Sheridan Award.
