Easter Seals Telethon Comes to Cambrian
Feature
January 2007
Cambrian College’s eDome will be the venue for the annual Easter Seals telethon, an event that is usually held at the MCTV station on Frood Road. The money that is raised from the annual Telethon helps children with disabilities gain greater independence through the purchase of equipment such as wheel chairs and walkers and to send disabled children to camp. Last year the event raised $422,000.
“Cambrian College is a very proud member of the Greater City of Sudbury community and is very pleased to host this year’s Easter Seals telethon,” says Sylvia Barnard, President of Cambrian College. “Through the College’s eDome facility, we will be educating viewers on Easter Seals and what it’s all about. At the same time, we will be advocating on behalf of our own students here at the College.”
The Easter Seals annual telethon will air on the CBC television station on April 1, 2007, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Cambrian’s eDome is a high-tech, digital multi-media facility that is well-suited to this type of event. It has six television cameras in its circular room and boasts a state-of-the-art sound system. The facility also has the ability to broadcast the live events over the Internet.
