John Rodriguez, Sudbury’s newly-elected Mayor, visited Public Relations and Journalism students during a Public Affairs class at the College’s Barrydowne campus on February 16, 2007.

 

The students heard the Mayor’s views on education and had the opportunity to find out about his vision for Greater Sudbury. They also got a glimpse of his career path in politics and education and had time to ask the Mayor questions about municipal government and issues of the day.

 

On emigrating to Canada -  “I wanted to be part of a country that I could help to build.”

 

On being Mayor - “I ran because I believed that I could make a difference. I am always interested in changing things for the better...in helping young people grow up to be successful in their home community.”
