What is OSAP?
OSAP is a loans, grants, and bursaries program. Your loan assessment is based on the information that you supply on the application form that you submit. The information that you provide determines what type of funds, if any, you will receive from this program.
OSAP eligibility criteria:
- You must have lived in Ontario for 12 consecutive months prior to starting your postsecondary education.
- You have to be taking at least 60% of a full course load or 40% if you are a student with a permanent disability.
- Your program choice must be an OSAP approved program that leads to the completion of a diploma or degree.
Please note: As a new OSAP applicant, you will be subject to a credit check. This is to ensure that funding is not issued to individuals with a history of serious credit abuse.
Depending on your eligibility, OSAP will consider covering the following:
- tuition and compulsory fees
- child care expenses
- books/supplies/tools/equipment
- personal living expenses
Benefits of applying online
- You can apply online any time of the day, any day of the week.
- It is quick and easy.
- You get an estimate of the amount of your funding as soon as you submit your application.
Note: A paper application is also available at no charge. It can be printed off the OSAP website at http://osap.gov.on.ca
