Picking Up Your Loan

Book An Appointment
To book an appointment, log on to Student 411 and click on 'things you can do' and then choose disbursement as your appointment type.

Step 1. Register in your program.

Before the Financial Aid office at Cambrian College can release your loan documents, you must be registered as a full-time student (60% of a maximum course load or 40% for a student with a disability).

Step 2. Pickup your loan documents.

You will need to book an appointment to pick-up your loan documents. To book an appointment, log on to Student 411 through the Cambrian College website. Click on 'things you can do' and then choose disbursement as your appointment type.

To pick up and negotiate your loan you will need:

  • Your Student Registration Form (SRF). If you did not register online.
  • Your Social Insurance Number Card.
  • Valid government photo identification (e.g. driver's license,  age of majority card)
  • A 'void' cheque. The National Student Loan Service Centre (NSLSC) needs your banking information in order to deposit loan funds into your bank account.

Step 3. Negotiate (Cash) your loan documents with a NSLSC representative on-campus or at a designated Canada Post location.

For your convenience, the National Student Loan Service Centre (NSLSC) will have a temporary location on campus during the first couple of weeks of the semester so that you can negotiate your loan. If you are unable to negotiate your loan at the on-campus location during these first few weeks, you may go to a designated Canada Post outlet and negotiate your loan(s)

The NSLSC/Canada Post representatives will:

  • Process your Canada and/or Ontario student loan documents.
  • Arrange for your loan funds to be deposited into your bank account or to have a cheque mailed to you.

Area Canada Post outlets that can negotiate your student loans(s) are listed below:

Remember:

  • Respond to all mailed notices!
  • Failure to respond could result in longer wait periods for your disbursement!
  • Keep your address up to date!
  • Keep copies of all documents!
