What is Independent Learning?
Independent Learning is another method of delivery ideal for the student who cannot or chooses not to attend regularly scheduled classes due to other commitments and/or geographic location. This delivery method requires that students possess a certain level of self-discipline to be sufficiently motivated to complete course work as required.
Independent Learning generally works as follows:
- You receive course materials that are specifically design for the independent learner and that have easy, step-by-step instructions that allow for home study.
- You can begin a course on the first day of any month. You do not need to wait for regular semester dates.
- You are assigned a tutor who is familiar with the course material that you are studying. The tutor can be reached by telephone or e-mail and is responsible for marking assignments and final exams, for providing assistance with learning material, and for monitoring your progress throughout the course.
