Unemployed? Laid off? Expecting to be laid off in the near future?

Second Career, an Ontario government program, can help you train for a new job in a growing area of the economy. Through Second Career, you may qualify for up to $28,000 in funding for tuition, books, living expenses, and other training-related costs.

 

Second Career is an Ontario government program designed to help unemployed workers transition to new careers in growing areas of the economy.

It also assists workers with tuition, books, living expenses and other costs associated with training for a new career. Training can take anywhere from six months to two years. An additional year may be available when academic upgrading is needed.

Do you qualify? You may qualify for Second Career, if you:

  • have been laid off after January 1, 2005,
  • are currently unemployed or under-employed, and
  • are prepared to commit to a long-term training plan.
