Counselling services are provided to support student success at Cambrian. Career and Academic advising is provided to registered and prospective students while crisis counselling is provided to registered students in program only.
Career Advising:
We can assist students who are unsure of their career interests and are having difficulty choosing a College program that best suits their strengths and goals.
Our staff can provide career interest testing to help you undertake a career investigation. This investigation can help you to decide on the most appropriate program for you to take in deciding on your future career goals.
Academic Advising:
For students who are uncertain of any aspect of the educational process, and may need assistance in developing an educational plan, or have questions ranging from program prerequisites to College-University transfer agreements, a discussion with our experienced staff may help support your learning goals.
The Centre can also be used as a resource for students who are experiencing difficulties with respect to their academic performance. Our staff can assist students to identify areas of difficulty and help them develop strategies to improve their performance.
Personal and Crisis Counselling:
Counselling Services include access to brief personal counselling (1-3 sessions), as required. This service is available to registered students who require professional counselling to assist in coping with issues that are personal in nature – issues that could range from loneliness and stress to anxiety management. If it is in the student’s best interests, our staff can also refer the student to professionals outside of the College for specialized services.
All services are confidential in a safe environment.
