The Glenn Crombie Centre at Cambrian College, which is considered to be one of the most comprehensive disability resource centres in North America, provides supports and accommodations needed by students with disabilities.
Housed in a state-of-the-art 12,500-square-foot facility, The Glenn Crombie Centre includes two fully-accessible computer labs equipped with assistive technology, personal care rooms, testing rooms, and private consultation rooms. In addition, the Centre’s contemporary universal building design incorporates interior and exterior accessibility features that address the needs of students with learning and physical disabilities.
Through the Northern Ontario Assessment and Resource Centre (NOARC) that is headquartered at Cambrian College above The Glenn Crombie Centre, a consortium of northern colleges and universities provide assessment services for postsecondary students with learning disabilities; to foster professional practices and research in the field of learning disabilities; and to promote professional development.
Through NOARC, the College engages in applied research in the area of disabilities, particularly in the postsecondary adult environment. Alana Holmes, Ph. D. C. Psych. and Robert Silvestri, M. Ed., Ph. D. Candidate, lead the team at NOARC and are particularly interested in learning disabilities and the adult learner. The Glenn Crombie Centre has a strong team engaged in education and applied research in assistive technology and other procedures to support learners with disabilities.
